THE OCCUPANT | 1984 | Film, 16mm | Colour

The Occupant concerns itself with the dreaming and interior life that informs Peter Lyssiotis’ photographic work. Still photographs, photo-montages and memories weave their way through the film and play against the reality of everyday life, to provide an ironic edge which the artist is not afraid to turn on himself, the concept of High Art or the conventions of cinema or photography. The film explores the relationship between a son and his father and his nostalgia for his homeland, Cyprus. The Occupant is about the occupation of a house and by extension of the body by dreams.”
